Yeshivas Lev Yisrael
Yeshivas Lev Yisrael first opened its doors in the Spring of 2000. The Ba'al Tshuva movement, since the 1970's, has built a network of institutions -- institutions that focus on reaching out to non-observant Jews and helping them to renew their connection to Judaism. The movement has had great success in helping thousands of individuals experience the richness of their heritage and in helping them begin to keep the Torah and its mitzvos. Despite this great achievement, however, over the years it has become apparent that there still remains a great lack. Although many Ba'alei Tshuva "get their feet through the door" to assume orthodox commitment, there has been little done to help them maintain their success as they enter a mainstream Jewish lifestyle and community.
In response to that lack, Lev Yisrael opened its doors as a next step for Ba'alei Tshuva
in their growth in Yiddishkeit. For those who have been studying for a few years or are already married, Yeshivas Lev Yisrael provides
a place and the tools of guidance necessary for them to further their
growth in their Jewish life and to reach a level of proper integration.
Although primarily a yeshiva with a focus on Talmudic study, there is additional emphasis on the unique needs of a Ba'al Tshuva. The Lev Yisrael approach allows a Ba'al Tshuva to tackle head-on the issues he faces as he struggles to integrate his whole self into mainstream Judaism.
With this, Lev Yisrael becomes more than a typical yeshiva.
The structure of the yeshiva and its daily life are unique in three
ways: Individual Focus, Educational Program, and Tools of Chassidus.
